Aermacchi

Alenia Aermacchi, a Finmeccanica group company, and OGMA, Industria Aeronautica de Portugal, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that specifies the terms for cooperation in the industrialization programme of the M-346 new generation advanced trainer.

The MoU establishes the terms of the OGMA industrial participation in the programme with responsibility for important activities such as:

• Production and assembly of structural parts
• Production of equipment systems
• Participation in structural testing on ground
• Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) activities

The agreement also covers the involvement of a significant number of companies active in high-tech fields as well as in aeronautics, which will join the programme as sub-contractors. This will enrich the technological know-how and professional opportunities for local industry, thanks to a process of synergic interchange of leading-edge technologies.

For Alenia Aermacchi, the Memorandum with OGMA represents an important agreement that reflects its strategy to promote the M-346 internationally by establishing partnerships with highly qualified companies.

The OGMA management skills will also help the commercial success of the M-346. On the international scene the M-346 has already registered much appreciation by several air forces, which have evaluated it expressing extremely positive comments. ­
