The Aermacchi Pilot Club has been officially founded in June 2007, in Rome at the Italian Air Force Officers’ Club.
The Club aims to create and maintain an active dialogue with the many pilots which learned to fly on Aermacchi aircraft, many of which have become top ranking Air Force officers, officials and decision makers in their respective countries.
The main activities of the new Club will include, the spreading and distribution of aviation publications, the organization of events, seminars, conferences, specific studies and courses to foster the exchange of ideas and knowledge regarding all the training syllabus.
The ceremony was held in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, Gen. Vincenzo Camporini and of the Alenia Aermacchi CEO, Ing. Carmelo Cosentino. Among the bystanders, there were also representatives of other international air forces and the top management of Finmeccanica and Alenia Aeronautica. During the ceremony, General S.A. Giulio Mainini was elected as President of the Club.
The Club estimates its potential membership pool in the region of 15,000-20,000 pilots. The vast majority of these potential members earned their wings in the past four decades on board of the 2,000 training aircraft built by Aermacchi and sold to over 40 countries.
