Aermacchi

On the 3rd of May, at Alenia Aermacchi facilities at Venegono, has come out of the jig, the first fuselage of the M-346 advanced trainer which will represent the series production aircraft (LRIP 00 – Low Rate Industrial Production).

The main difference between the prototype and the pre-series aircraft can be identified by the optimisation of the structure; integrated within the structure is the new main landing gear. All the systems and the relative wiring have been also optimised.

A technical effort has been used in order to reach the target weight. The weight of the LRIP00 is significantly lower than the prototypes. Also thanks to the use of advanced material, such as, unidirectional carbon fiber, thermoplastic and titanium materials and innovative manufacturing technologies.
