Giorgio Brazzelli started his career with Agusta in 1964, working initially in the Engineering department with increasing responsibilities until 1980, when he became Chief Executive Officer of the Helicopter Division. In this capacity, he oversaw the launch of the new A-129 anti-tank helicopter and the agreement with Westland of the U.K. for the new EH-101 heavy helicopter.
In 1984, Giorgio Brazzelli moved to Piaggio - the Italian scooter and motorcycles company - as Chief Executive Officer, where he implemented a total management reshuffle, a leaner organisation and achieved a return to substantial profitability and cash generation.
In 1989, Giorgio Brazzelli joined Alenia Aermacchi as Chief Executive Officer. His major accomplishments were the acquisition of SIAI Marchetti, the development of the company civil business, the building of the new factory in Venegono and the launch of the M-346 programme. Under the leadership of Giorgio Brazzelli, Alenia Aermacchi was able to return to profitability and embarked on a negotiation with Finmeccanica which led to the acquisition of the company by this Group in 2003. In the same year, Giorgio Brazzelli became Chairman of Alenia Aermacchi.
From 2003 to 2005 he was Chairman of Avio and since 2005, he has been a board member of Avio.
From 2005 to February 2009 he was vice-chairman of Alenia Aeronautica and on February 2009 he became Chairman of Alenia Aeronautica.
From 2009 he is also chairman of the Promoting Committee of Lombardie Aerospace District.
Giorgio Brazzelli was born in 1939 and graduated in aeronautical engineering at the Milan Politecnico in 1962.
Carmelo Cosentino is Chief Executive Officer of Alenia Aermacchi since February, 2005.
Mr. Cosentino started his industrial career with Aeritalia in 1978. From that year up to now, his entire professional evolution has been progressing within the aerospace business sector. He participated in the successive transformations of the Italian industry, joining, after Aeritalia, first Alenia and then Alenia Aerospazio and Alenia Aeronautica and experiencing throughout these changes a consistent spread of his responsibilities.
In 1979 he moved to Seattle as a member of the international team established by the Aeritalia-Boeing joint venture to develop the B767 programme.
In 1980, he was called back at the Aeritalia headquarters in Rome as Executive Assistant of the Corporate Commercial Director. In 1984 he became Deputy Director, Domestic Sales. Four years later, he was appointed Director, Sales & Marketing for Europe and NATO.
In 1991, following the merger of Aeritalia and Selenia that gave birth to Alenia, Mr. Cosentino was named Director, New Programmes and New Products of the Aeronautical Branch of this company. In 1994, he became Director, Aeronautical Business Development and, one year later, Vice President, Commercial Planning.
In 1999, Mr. Cosentino was appointed Senior Vice President of Alenia Aerospazio in charge of Strategy, Business and International Relations.
In the year 2000, with the incorporation of Alenia Aeronautica, Mr. Cosentino maintained his role of Senior Vice President and extended his accountability to Research, Development of New Products & New Initiatives, and Public Relations. He became also Head of the Military Aircraft business. In July 2003 he was named Executive Vice President of Alenia Aeronautica and General Manager, Military Programmes.
In February 2005, Mr. Cosentino was nominated by Finmeccanica as a member of the Aermacchi Board of Directors and appointed Chief Executive Officer of this company.
Carmelo Cosentino adds to his current position at the helm of Alenia Aermacchi these other assignments:Member of the Steering Committee of the IAI (Italian Institute for International Affairs) and “Honoured Fellow” of the Royal Aeronautical Society of London. Moreover, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Eurofighter International Ltd. and of Panavia Aircraft GmbH. Moreover, member of the Executive Committee, a deputy member of the Supervisory Board and the Italian representative within the Strategic Marketing Committee of Eurofighter GmbH of Germany. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Italian Geopolitical Institute.
Carmelo Cosentino has been awarded in 2009 with the “Sebetia Ter” for Aeronautics prize, decorated with the Stella al Merito del Lavoro, he is Commendatore dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana and he is Member of Rotary Club Roma Appia Antica since 1989.
He has authored several essays and articles on economics, industrial aeronautics and air transportation matters.
Born in Palermo, Italy on August 2, 1947, Carmelo Cosentino graduated at the University of Palermo in Industrial Engineering with a specialisation in Aeronautics. Afterwards, he specialised in Marketing as well as Planning & Strategic Analysis at the School of Business Administration of the Bocconi University of Milan.
Mr. Cosentino is married and has a son.
Massimo Lucchesini is General Manager of Alenia Aermacchi, which he has followed since its start.
Within the framework of this position he is responsible for the technological development and consolidated military programs as well as for civil programs covering nacelles and structural parts for aerospace applications.
As an Officer of the Italian Air Force, he participated in the San Marco project for the launch of geostationary satellites (1972-73). After this experience he worked for three years with Breda/Oto Melara and was responsible for guided missile systems.
Lucchesini joined Aermacchi in 1976 as Chief of the Structural Dynamics and Flutter Department. He actively operated in the development and certification of the MB-339 training aircraft. Subsequently, he became manager of the Aircraft Technologies Department and dealt with the design, development and flight tests of the AM-X attack aircraft, in cooperation with Alenia and Embraer.
From 1985 onward, he focused on building up the Company’s technological capabilities to develop a family of military Fly-By-Wire trainers of the new generation. During his activity as R&D Director, Lucchesini was involved in many international civil and military programs with Dassault, Dornier and MBB.
In 1990 he was appointed Director of Engineering and Prototype Production. In this role he managed the collaboration with Lockheed to upgrade the MB-339 according to J-PATS requirements. Since 1993, he worked closely with Yakovlev/Sokol for the development of the Italian-Russian YAK/AEM-130 program, an advanced trainer for the Russian Air Force.
In early 2000, following the decision to launch the full scale development of M-346, next generation Lead-In Fighter Trainer, Lucchesini was appointed Director of the autonomous “M-346 Business Unit”, created to manage the Program. The Integrated Team for engineering and manufacturing held complete control of all of the program aspects, including contracts, procurement, and quality assurance.
In 2003, he was promoted to Deputy General Manager, holding the lead of M-346 Business Unit.
Lucchesini was born in Pisa in 1947 and graduated in Aerospace Engineering from Pisa University in 1971.
